Argentina international striker Hernan Barcos struck a stunning last-gasp goal to earn Gremio a dramatic 1-0 victory over Atletico Paranaense in Brazil's Serie A championship.
In the last play of the match Wednesday, the 30-year-old controlled Ze Roberto's weighted pass with his chest before turning and lashing an unstoppable volley into the bottom corner, reported Xinhua.
Barcos' ninth league goal of the season lifted Luiz Felipe Scolari's team to fourth in the standings with 34 points from 20 matches.
"We never gave up and even though the game was difficult we were able to take our chance when it came," Barcos said after the match.
Meanwhile, a late header from former Wolfsburg midfielder Cicero earned Fluminense a 1-1 draw at Figueirense.
The 30-year-old netted five minutes from time to leave the Rio club on 32 points, seven ahead of Figueirense.
In Recife, ex-Benfica right-back Patric scored a hat-trick to give Sport a 3-1 victory over Santos.
