Reigning German football league champions FC Bayern Munich have signed promising central midfielder Corentin Tolisso from French outfit Olympique Lyonnais.
According to Xinhua news agency, the Bundesliga title holders confirmed in an official statement on Wednesday that they have secured the services of the promising youngster for five years, with the contract extending till June 2022.
"We are very happy that Bayern were able to sign this young and highly interesting player despite the interest of many other European clubs. Corentin Tolisso was the desired midfielder of our head coach Carlo Ancelotti," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.
The 22-year-old new arrival joined Lyon at the age of 13 in 2007. He played his way through Lyon's youth system before making his top-flight debut in the 2013-2014 season.
Since then, Tolisso has made 116 Ligue 1 appearances and scored 21 goals.
His performances in the French league earned him a call up to France's national team where he made his debut in March 2017 in a 0-2 loss to Spain.
"I had a wonderful time with Olympique Lyon, for which I am very grateful," Tolisso said.
"Now I am looking forward to play for one of the best clubs in Europe. I have set myself high goals with Bayern. Today is a great day for me."
Tolisso is the fifth summer transfer for Bayern Munich. They had earlier signed Kingsley Coman, Niklas Suele and Sebastian Rudy and Serge Gnabry.
