Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Tuesday said tributaries of the Beas river would be channelised like the Swan river.

"The Swan river in Una district is being channelised at a cost of Rs.922 crore. This is one of the biggest channelisation projects of the country," he said at a public meeting in Una district.

Singh said the tributaries of the Beas river in Gagret area would also be channelised.

The chief minister said 73 tributaries of the Swan would be channelised, a move that would help in reclaiming over 15,000 hectares of land. The reclaimed land would then be utilized for horticulture and agriculture.
