Belgian envoy meet UP CM, shows interest in Smart City project

Belgian Amabassador to India John Lucas met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and discussed various methods to augment economic cooperation between his country and the state, expressing particular interest in the 'Smart Cities' project.

During the meeting, detailed and productive deliberations were held on enhancing economic cooperation between Belgium and Uttar Pradesh and providing modern technology, said an official.

The Chief Minister apprised Lucas and his delegation that the state government was committed to make the Ganga flowing and cleaner under the 'Namami Gange' project and added that work was underway at a war footing to do so before the Prayag Ardh Kumbh-2019.

Seeking the help of the Belgian government, he also called for embracing new technology for this purpose. Adityanath also stressed on the need of solid waste management in urban areas and said that the use of new technology could be a boon for this, potable water and sewerage.

Lucas informed Adityanath of the available technology and assured of full cooperation.

He also showed keen interest in the 'Smart City Project' and said that his government was all for helping in this project. He also expressed desire to work on this project in big cities like Aligarh, Allahabad, Ghaziabad and others.
