The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained a youth, suspected of having links with the Islamic State (IS) terror group, from West Bengal's Burdwan district, an official said on Saturday.
"The youth is a student of a private engineering college. We have detained him for interrogation. We suspect he may have links with the IS," the official added.
The 19-year-old, hailing from Dhaniakhali in Hooghly district, was picked up by NIA sleuths from his rented accommodation under Kanksha police station area in Burdwan three days back.
The NIA earlier in January busted a terror module arresting several people from cities across the country "who were in the process of organizing themselves to commit terrorist acts" and the youth's name cropped up during their interrogation.
"He has not been formally arrested yet. We are still ascertaining his role in this module," added the officer.
