India's Yuki Bhambri settled for the bronze medal, losing to Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka in the men's singles semi-final of the 17th Asian Games at the Yeorumul Tennis Courts here Sunday.
Bhambri, seeded fourth, lost 6-3, 2-6, 1-6 to the Japanese fifth seed in an hour and 44 minutes.
The Indian started the match on a positive note, winning the first set 6-3 as the Japanese struggled to find any rhythm.
Nishioka, however, upped his game in the second and snatched all momentum from Bhambri.
Bhambri found the going extremely hard with set ending 6-2 in favour of the Japanese.
Spurred by the second set win, Nishioka completely dominated and outplayed the 22-year-old Indian, who lost the third set 1-6 in just 30 minutes.
India now have 29 medals (three gold, five silver, 21 bronze).
