State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) Thursday said it has won an order worth over Rs.3,500 crore from the Gujarat State Electricity Corp (GSECL) for setting up a thermal power project in Gujarat.
Announcing this as a major breakthrough for the company, BHEL said: "This is the first ever project of 800 MW unit rating ordered in the country on EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) basis and is also the highest valued order placed by GSECL."
The 800 MW super critical thermal plant is to be set up at Wanakbori in Kheda district fof Gujarat at a cost of Rs.3,536 crore.
The work under the contract awarded through international competitive bidding includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the unit, BHEL said.
With this project, BHEL has won orders for 33 supercritical boilers and 28 turbines with ratings ranging from 660-800 MW, the company said.
