The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday condemned the death of an Arunachal Pradesh student after he was beaten up.

"The death of a northeast student in New Delhi after being beaten up is barbaric and condemnable," BJP leader Arun Jaitley said in a comment on Twitter.

"Such incidents do not help us as a nation," he said.

Nido Taniam, a 20-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh, who was allegedly beaten up by shopkeepers in Delhi Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries Thursday morning.
