The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday condemned the terror attack in Kenya's capital Nairobi in which two Indians were killed.

"I strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Nairobi. It is a brutal act against humanity," BJP president Rajnath Singh tweeted Sunday.

"It is high time for the peace loving people around the world to unite against the growing menace of terrorism," he said.

BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, meanwhile, said he spoke to India's High Commissioner to Kenya on the incident.

"Spoke to India's High Commissioner to Kenya & spoke to people of the Indian community there over the unfortunate attack in Nairobi," Modi said Sunday.

"Touching to know of a hospital in Nairobi built by the Indian Community that is helping during this crisis," he said in a comment on Twitter.

Nearly 59 people, including at least two Indians, were killed in a terrorist attack in a Nairobi mall Saturday.

Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson of the external affairs ministry, said the two killed Indians were 40-year-old Sridhar Natarajan, who belonged to Tamil Nadu, and eight-year-old Paramshu Jain, the son of a Bank of Baroda local branch manager.

The militant group Al Shabaab of Somalia has claimed responsibility for the attack.
