BJP councillor slaps official

A BJP councillor Wednesday slapped a municipal official after the latter tried to stop unauthorized construction in south Delhi.

Neeraj Gupta of the Bharatiya Janata Party slapped a junior engineer of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) following a heated row.

Gupta, who was caught on camera slapping the engineer, tried to beat him again when some people intervened to stop the politician.

Gupta is a councillor from Sangam Vihar, a densely populated area home to mainly low income families. The BJP distanced itself from the incident.
