Delhi Police's failure to prove charges against 15 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators in court so far has exposed the "political vendetta" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government, an AAP spokesman said on Monday.

"(Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji has been using the state machinery -- Income Tax Department, the CBI and Delhi Police -- for the last two years to target the AAP MLAs by booking them in false cases," Dilip Pandey told reporters here.

"The political vendetta of the BJP has been exposed as no case against any of our legislators has been proven by Delhi Police as yet," Pandey said.

At least 15 of the AAP's MLAs were booked by Delhi Police in various cases. Courts have so far acquitted Akhilesh Tripathi and Jarnail Singh. Tripathi was accused of sexual harassment. Singh was alleged to have assaulted a civic body employee.

All others are out on bail even as the courts have pulled up the police for not having substantial evidence to prove the charges against them.

Pandey said Delhi Police had not even been able to file chargesheets in many cases. "There is no substantial evidence to prove the charges against any of our MLAs.

"The way people in power (central government) are behaving has turned democracy into hell."

AAP leader Raghav Chadha said some BJP ministers in the central government were themselves facing "serious criminal" cases and still no one had been arrested so far.

"Nearly 31 per cent of the BJP ministers have criminal cases against them, out of which 18 per cent are facing serious criminal charges. Modiji's police is not arresting any of them but they are arresting our (AAP) MLAs against whom there are false cases," he said.
