BJP activists on Friday protested outside the Delhi assembly against the suspension of party legislator O.P. Sharma from the house for the entire winter session.
As scores of protesters tried to scale the barricades at the protest site, police used water canons to disperse them. BJP parliamentarian Ramesh Bidhuri was among the protesters.
On Thursday, Delhi assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel extended the suspension period of Sharma for his sexist remark against Aam Aadmi Party legislator Alka Lamba.
Sharma was suspended on November 24 initially for two days. However, AAP lawmakers on Thursday passed a resolution in the assembly to extend his suspension for the entire session.
The assembly session began on November 28 and would end on December 4.
