The BJP is projected to win half the Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, notching up a tally far higher than any other party, according to an ABP News-Nielsen survey.
An opinion poll conducted in 20 Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh and 10 in Bihar says the Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to bag 40 of the 80 seats in the former and 21 seats out of 40 in the latter.
The fledgling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will get one seat in Uttar Pradesh while the Janata Dal-United, which snapped ties with the BJP, will bag nine seats in Bihar, said the survey.
The BJP won 10 Lok Sabha seats in 2009 in Uttar Pradesh.
The Congress is predicted to get around 11 seats, down from the 21 it bagged in 2009 in the state.
The ruling Samajwadi Party is likely to get around 14 seats and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party 13, the survey said.
In Bihar, the BJP is likely to emerge as the largest party with 21 seats and a vote share of 32 percent, the survey said.
The JD-U would get nine seats as compared to its tally of 20 in 2009, it said. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of Lalu Prasad is likely to win around five Lok Sabha seats.
According to the poll, in a hypothetical scenario the Congress is predicted to get 14 seats and a vote share of 32 percent in alliance with the RJD and Lok Janshakti Party.
The opinion poll was conducted Feb 4-15 with 4,537 respondents in Uttar Pradesh and 2,272 respondents in Bihar.
