Third-seeded pair of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea went down 3-6, 4-6 to top-seeded duo of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in the semi-finals of the Washington Open men's doubles event.
The Indo-Romanian tennis pair were always second best in the match and were forced to chase the contest throughout against their much experienced American opponents on the outdoor hard courts of William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center here on Saturday.
The Bryan brothers will now face second seeded Brazil-Croat pair of Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig at the $1.5 million event on Sunday.
Bopanna-Mergea entered the semi-finals after receiving a walkover from Bulgarian-American combine of Grigor Dimitrov and Mardy Fish Washington Open on Friday.
