A three-and-half-year boy accidentally fell into a borewell in Telangana and died after he was pulled out after a three-hour struggle on Sunday, police said.
The incident occurred in Pulicherla village in Peddapura area of Nalgonda district.
Police, firefighting personnel and local officials managed to pull out B. Shiva from the borewell. He was shifted to a hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar, where he died while undergoing treatment.
The boy had gone to an agriculture field with his parents. While the couple were busy in agricultural activity, the boy was playing in the field. He stepped on the borewell which was covered with some bags but accidentally fell into it.
Rescue workers dug a parallel pit and also tried to supply oxygen.
Police said the boy, when pulled out, was in a critical condition. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed.
