Bradford boss rubbishes reports of QPR bid for Wells

London, Aug 30 (IANS/CMC) Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson has rubbished reports of an imminent 3 million pounds bid from Queen's Park Rangers for in-form Bermudan international striker Nahki Wells.

English tabloids this week said the Championship club's manager, Harry Redknapp, was set to launch a bid for Bradford's leading scorer, reports CMC.

Wells, 23, scored 26 goals for Bradford City last season when the club won promotion from League Two.

He is already on his way to his target of 30 goals this season, notching up six goals from five matches, and Saturday became the first player in Bradford's history to score in eight successive matches as he converted both goals in City's 2-0 home win against Sheffield United.

Bradford have placed a gag order on Wells, preventing him from speaking to the media, until after the transfer window closes next week but Bermuda legend Clyde Best, who played with Redknapp at West Ham United, thinks a move to QPR would be a great opportunity for the young striker.

Parkinson says talk of a move is nothing but speculation and the club has no intention of selling.

"There are always going to be rumours. You expect that," Parkinson told reporters.

"QPR have just signed Charlie Austin and others. I'm sure they won't be interested. It's fairly difficult at this point to let anyone go because it would be almost impossible to bring someone in. It's something we don't want.

"I want to keep improving the squad and not weakening it by losing players. That's the situation."

He added: "Nahki knows the work that went in from the team on Saturday to make sure those goals were winning goals. He understands that.

"He is getting the headlines, which is great, but it was a terrific performance from the whole team."
