Three persons, including a minor, have been arrested for beating an 18-year-old boy to death following an argument over a broken liquor bottle, the police said on Monday.
Sanjeet, 18, succumbed in hospital to multiple injuries he sustained after his three neighbours attacked him with wooden sticks in Adarsh Nagar in the north of the city at about 11.30 p.m. on Sunday.
An altercation started after Sanjeet bumped into one of his neighbours, leading to the breaking of a liquor bottle, and then turned into the violent attack, according to the police.
"All the attackers were held a few hours after the incident," said a police official.
Two of the accused, identified as Karan and Raju, both in their late 20s, have been sent to judicial custody while the minor, whose name was withheld by police, has been sent to a juvenile home.
Police said the victim, who worked in a private factory, was returning home when the incident occurred.
