Brown de Adrogue, which moved into the Second Division this season, has defeated Independiente 4-3 on penalties, advancing to the Copa Argentina round of 16.
The clubs finished regulation time in Monday's match tied at 1-1, reports Efe news.
Brown will play Santiago del Estero-based Central Cordoba, which defeated Tigre 2-0, in the round of 16.
Silvio Romero scored for Independiente in the 24th minute on a penalty kick, but Brown's Juan Olivares tied the match at 1-1 in the 64th minute.
Independiente then picked up the pace, but it was unable to score another goal in regulation time.
The club will have to get its confidence back as it prepares to face River Plate in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals.
The match between Independiente and Brown wrapped up this round of Copa Argentina play.
The action resumes on Wednesday, when River Plate and Platense clash in a round of 16 match.
Estudiantes de La Plata plays San Lorenzo; Rosario Central takes on Almagro; Boca Juniors clashes with Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata; and Sarmiento plays Atletico de Rafaela in the other round of 16 matches.
Newell's Old Boys, which defeated Atletico Tucuman 5-3 on penalties, and Temperley, which beat Argentinos Juniors 2-0, have already advanced to the Copa Argentina quarterfinals.
Newell's will face either Rosario Central or Almagro, while Temperley will play Estudiantes de La Plata or San Lorenzo.
The winner of the Copa Argentina qualifies for the 2019 Copa Libertadores.
