A 47-year-old Buddhist monk from Arunachal Pradesh committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence here, police said Sunday.
The body of T.G. Rimpoche was found by his sister inside his first-floor flat in Vasant Kunj area of south Delhi around 1 a.m. Saturday.
A suicide note written in Tibetan language was recovered from his possession.
"We are yet to find out the reason behind his suicide as the letter has not been translated so far," a police officer said.
Rimpoche, who came to Delhi May 2, was reportedly close to Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, he said.
