Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Delhi Tourism department are planning to open budget hotels for tourists at bus depots in the city, an official said Thursday.
"Both the departments have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), aimed at full utilisation of available permissible spaces in the existing bus depots for their modernisation. The passengers will also get facility of retail outlets and amenities," said the official.
DTC has initially identified six bus depots - Vasant Vihar, Sarojini Nagar, Sriniwaspuri, Kalkaji, Nehru Place and Raja Garden - for the tourist hotels and modernisation.
This initiative is a step forward towards facilitating tourists who mostly prefer staying in budget hotels, said the official.
