A four-storey residential building that was being demolished collapsed early Saturday morning in Jafrabad area of northeast Delhi, leaving one person dead and 15 injured, police said.
"The collapse happened at 2.05 a.m. One person died and 15 received minor injuries," a police official said.
"The victims were labourers. They were engaged in the building's demolition when it collapsed. Fifteen labourers were rescued from the site, while one man named Furkan died," the police official added.
The injured people were taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, from where they were discharged after first aid.
"Twelve fire ambulances rushed to the spot on receiving a distress call. All the victims were evacuated from the building, which occupied a 300 square yard area," a fire official said.
The police official refused to divulge the name of the owner of the building.
