A city court Friday extended the NIA remand of Myanmar national Khalid Mohammed along with two Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) militants by five days in connection with the Oct 2 Burdwan blast.

Chief Sessions Judge Mumtaz Khan extended the NIA remand of JMB commander and blast mastermind Sajid, fellow JMB militant Amjad Sheikh and Khalid to allow their interrogation by Bangladesh intelligence sleuths who are in the city.

The trio was presented before the court on the expiry of their custody with the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the blast that occurred at a house in Khagragarh, killing two JMB militants and injuring another.

The court extended the on a prayer by NIA counsel Shyamal Ghosh who contended that their custody with the agency was necessary for the Bangladesh sleuths to interrogate them.

A delegation of seven officials from Bangladesh intelligence and law enforcement agencies arrived in the city Thursday to talk with NIA officials and interrogate the blast accused.
