A businessman was shot dead by unidentified assailants here, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place at around 8.30 p.m., on Wednesday the four assailants on two motorcycles shot Hemant Chousaria from close range while he was returning home after closing his shop in Kailash Nagar, Hatigaon.
The victim was rushed to the Dispur Hospital but was pronounced dead.
"We have recovered empty cartridge of 9 mm pistol from the area. We have also recovered a bag from the place of occurrence with Rs 1 lakh cash," the police said.
