CAB rejects Lodha's proposal of banning ministers from BCCI

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Friday rejected 10 recommendations of the Lodha Committee including the ban on government officials and office bearers above the age of 70 holding post at the BCCI.

At a special general meeting chaired by its persident and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, the CAB also dismissed recommendations such as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office bearers can only serve three terms of three years each. They also rejected the proposal of ano zonal rotation for the BCCI president's post.

However, the members agreed on 11 recommentadations made by the panel like those on transparency, conflict of interest and creating avenues for revenue.

The hour-long meeting was attended by 90 of the 121 CAB affiliated units.

"We discussed 21 recommendations at the meeting, out of which 10 were rejected. We rejected the proposal that no minister or someone above the age of 70 can be an office bearer. We also rejected the proposal that the maximum period for which a person can be a BCCI officie-bearer should be nine years," CAB treasurer Biswaroop Dey told mediapersons.

"We have also decided to reject the proposal that one person cannot hold a post in two or more sports associations," he said.

Ganguly said after the meeting that the CAB would send their list to BCCI after a few days.

"We discussed everything that we spoke about in the last meeting, nothing new. We will be submitting it to the BCCI soon, we have time till February," Ganguly said.
