The CBI arrested a Delhi Police inspector for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.1 lakh from an accused in a criminal case in return for helping him, the agency said Monday.
The guilty police officer was posted in Chhawla police station in south Delhi and had demanded Rs.3 lakh for removing the man's name would be removed from the case.
However, the man registered a complaint against the officer.
According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), a trap was laid and the inspector was caught red-handed while accepting Rs.1 lakh from the complainant.
After being produced before the designated court, the inspector was remanded to judicial custody till Dec 8, the statement said.
