The prosecution's final arguments in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case did not resume Friday as the CBI sought a four-day adjournment in absence of their senior counsel R.K.Saini.
After placing his arguments in the case for a hour and half Thursday, Saini had asked the court to allow him to conclude the next day, but was not present as proceedings began Friday. On the prosecution's request, Special CBI Judge S. Lall adjourned the hearing till Oct 15.
Satyaketu Singh, lawyer for the accused - Aarushi's parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar - had Thursday sought time till Oct 21 to place results of some forensic tests of servants on record, but the special judge turned down his plea and allowed the prosecution to begin its arguments.
The CBI had Thursday told the court that circumstantial evidence showed that the blunt injury on the teenager's body was inflicted by a golf club, which was later recovered from the Talwar household.
Citing the evidence of the Talwars' driver that no one except the family members and Hemraj had been seen in the house before the murders, the prosecution contended as there were no signs of any outsider's entry, so the parents were the only ones who could have committed the murders.
Aarushi, 14, was found murdered at her parents' Noida residence in 2008. The body of Hemraj, who was the suspect initially, was found on the roof of the house the next day.
