The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Monday warned schools that it would not register Class 9 and Class 11 students if they failed to build their school's website, an official said.
In October 2010, the board had sent a circular to schools to develop a website and update information about the school and the management.
"As some schools are still to implement the direction of the board, we have linked the compliance by the school with the registration of Class 9 and Class 11 students' registration," Rama Sharma, CBSE's public relation manager, told IANS.
The information to be provided on websites include affiliation status, infrastructure details, names and designations of teachers and their salaries, class-wise enrollment of students and details of the school management committee.
"If students are denied registration, the school and the management will be solely held responsible," added Sharma.
CBSE is the board of education for public and private schools and conducts final examinations for Class 10 and 12. It also annually conducts the All India Engineering Examination (AIEEE) and All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) exam for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering, architecture and medical colleges respectively.
