Centre for relief from chronic pain opens in Bangalore

A specialty centre for giving relief from chronic pain affecting any part of the body was opened here Monday.

"The Reliv centre for chronic pain management specialises in treating all types of pain affecting any part of the body," HCG group of hospitals founder-chairman B.S. Ajai Kumar said on the occasion.

With the latest medical equipment and qualified physicians, the centre will treat any chronic pain, including back pain, neck pain, joint pain, cancer pain, headache and pain conditions such as reflex sympathetic dystrophy.

"Many diseases like cancer require care to manage constant pain to enable patients recuperate. As the healthcare sector lags behind in not only perceiving pain, but also in treating it, we have trained a team of doctors in pain management to provide relief to the affected patients," Ajai Kumar claimed.

The centre also treats patients who tried traditional methods like therapy and medications or have undergone spine or joint surgeries but did not get relief from chronic pain.

"Though chronic pain is prevalent across the country, people suffer from it for years without knowing that modern technology is available in place of therapy and medications, which give only temporary relief," centre founder director Madhu Yelameli said.

In the trial phase, the centre has treated a number of affected patients and relieved them from chronic pain to lead a normal life.
