Power major CESC Ltd on Thursday posted a meagre 1.6 percent rise in its standalone net profit to Rs.248 crore for the quarter ended March 31 as compared to Rs.244 crore in the year-ago period.
The power company's total income from operation grew by 4.4 percent during the quarter to Rs.1,479 crore as against Rs.1,416 crore in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement.
It posted a standalone net profit of Rs.707 crore in 2015-16 as compared to Rs.698 crore in 2014-15.
The company has partnered with US-based firm Silver Spring Networks to bring a part of south Kolkata under a smart grid network which will reduce the response time for restoration of supply after an outage, it said.
