A 27-year-old man, wanted in 19 cases of chain snatching, was arrested here Saturday, police said.
Sandeep was arrested from the Vikas Puri area of West Delhi when he and his accomplice were fleeing on a motorbike after snatching a gold chain from a woman, Sunita Khurana.
"Incidentally the bike slipped and the two fell down," said police and added that Khurana, who was accompanied by her son, raised an alarm.
"Police constables who were nearby immediately nabbed Sandeep while his accomplice managed to flee. The chain was recovered from Sandeep's possession," police said.
During interrogation Sandeep admitted to his involvement in 19 other chain snatching cases across Delhi.
He said his accomplice was also involved in many cases of chain snatching and other crimes.
The police said that one gold chain, one Scooty Honda Activa stolen from Hari Nagar, one motorcycle stolen from Vikas Puri and one mobile phone have been recovered from his possession.
