Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Sunday announced a nine-point agenda including a Youth Assembly to make them partners in decision-making, a dedicated day in the Assembly to discuss people's issues and setting up of a Sikkim Dividend Fund for Universal Basic Income.
Chamling made the announcement on day three of his ten-day long Sikkim Vijay Sankalp Rally here, a release issued by the Sikkim Democratic Front said.
Launched under the banner of "Chamling ka 9 Sankalp (Chamling's 9 Resolves)", the nine-point agenda also promises doorstep delivery of government services, and CATCH clinics for free healthcare.
Explaining the rationale behind the nine resolves, Chamling said: "Sikkim is a state of many firsts. From becoming the first Organic State to being the first Nirmal Rajya, from 50 per cent reservation for women in Panchayats to rolling out One Family One Job, our state has pioneered several policy initiatives for people's welfare.
"These resolves are my personal commitment to improve the quality of life of our people. Further, in line with our policy of 'Janta Raj Ma Jantai Raja', we will ensure that people set the agenda of the incoming SDF government," he added.
The agenda promises that if voted back to power, the SDF government would work to address the demands of Limboo-Tamang tribes for seat reservation and justice for the left-out tribal communities.
It also featured a slew of measures for the youth, including continuation of the landmark One Family One Job scheme to generate employment opportunities for the state's youth.
The futuristic agenda aims to devolve more power to the people, with the intention to set-up a local area budget for every booth, to undertake works required by the residents, to be decided by the residents themselves. Furthermore, a special day in the Assembly will be earmarked as "Janta Raj Diwas", to directly address queries raised by the people.
