Basseterre (St. Kitts), Sep 1 (IANS/CMC) Shivnarine Chanderpaul warmed up for next week's first Test with a fluent, unbeaten half-century but Shane Jeffers took centrestage with a stunning century, on the second day of the three-day tour match against Bangladesh here.
The veteran left-hander finished the day at Warner Park Sunday on 70 not out as St. Kitts and Nevis, responding to Bangladesh's 377 for seven declared, reached 232 for four.
Opener Jeffers stroked 118 from 130 balls, slamming 22 fours in an innings lasting just over four hours.
He dominated an opening stand of 77 with Shaquille Martina who made just nine and put on another 51 with Chanderpaul for the third wicket.
Once he fell, Chanderpaul shepherded the innings, adding 65 for the fourth wicket with Tonito Willett who scored 21 before falling late in the day.
Chanderpaul, who will face Bangladesh in the first Test at Arnos Vale starting next Saturday, faced 152 deliveries in more than three hours spent at the crease.
Bangladesh had earlier declared their first innings after captain Musfiqur Rahim (106 not out) and Nasir Hossain (100) completed centuries.
Mushfiqur began the day on 82 while Nasir resumed on 78, and they both reached three figures before Nasir played over a full length delivery from seamer Willett and was bowled.
Jeffers than dominated from the outset, racing to his half-century with his tenth boundary off just 49 balls before bringing up three figures off 90 balls with his 20th four - a sweetly timed cover drive off seamer Rubel Hossain.
Chanderpaul, arriving at the wicket when Javal Hodge was well caught by Mominul Haque at mid-wicket off left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, proceeded in now characteristic fashion to gather his runs in workman-like fashion.
Breif scores:
Bangladesh: 377 for seven declared (Mushfiqur Rahim 106 not out, Nasir Hossain 100, Shuvagata Hom 48, Imrul Kayes 44, Tamim Iqbal 20; Quinton Boatswain 2-47, Jeremiah Louis 2-56)
St. Kitts and Nevis: 232 for four (Shane Jeffers 118, Shiv Chanderpaul 70 not out)
