Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Thursday received a surprise New Year gift from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister and vice president of the United Arab Emirates.
The gift was the Malayalam version of a book titled "My Vision" written by the Dubai ruler, the chief minister's office said.
The book was sent with UAE-based Keralite businessman M.A. Yusuf Ali.
In a letter sent with the book, Sheikh Mohammed said the gift was a personal one from him.
He said he was happy to have spent time with the Kerala chief minister when he called on him last year.
Sheikh Mohammed said he liking Chandy as a person and his style of functioning as chief minister.
