Guatemala City, Sep 21 (IANS/EFE) Charred bodies of two brothers have been found alongside a little-travelled road in a Guatemalan town, authorities here said.
The bodies were found Thursday by fire rescue personnel in Amatitlan town, 30 km from the capital city. They were apparently burned at the scene, a spokesperson for fire rescue told reporters.
The victims' relatives identified the bodies as of Gustavo,25, and Alex Hernandez Paiz, 22. The men were last seen Wednesday afternoon as they left their home in Amatitlan, a police spokesperson said.
Guatemala is considered one of the most violent countries in Latin America.
A total of 4,132 murders were registered in the Central American country between January and August, up 5.84 percent from the 3,904 killings registered during the same period last year, the National Forensic Sciences Institute said. EFE
