BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here Friday that jailed former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala is dreaming of taking oath as chief minister from Tihar Jail if his party wins the Oct 15 state polls.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice president Naqvi was addressing a gathering here in sector 5 prior to filing of nomination by Umesh Aggarwal, the party candidate from the Gurgaon assembly seat.
Naqvi said: "Senior Chautala, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president, is dreaming by assuming he will take oath as Haryana chief minister for the sixth time from Tihar Jail which has never happened."
Five-time Haryana Chief Minister Chautala and his elder son Ajay Singh Chautala along with others have been jailed for 10 years for their involvement in the teachers' recruitment scam in the state.
Chautala is out of jail on bail on medical grounds.
Addressing a rally in Jind district of the state Thursday, organised to pay tributes to his father and former deputy prime minister Devi Lal on his 101st birth anniversary, Chautala had said the INLD will form the government after the assembly elections and he will be sworn in as chief minister from jail if he doesn't get relief from court.
Naqvi claimed that the BJP will for the first time form the government on its own in the state. He said the Congress is out of the race and will not form the government for the third time.
Naming INLD as the "B" team of the Congress, Naqvi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with chief ministers of BJP-governed states and other senior leaders will campaign for party candidates in Haryana.
The poll results will be announced Oct 19.
Saturday (Sep 27) is the last date for filing nominations.
