The Madras High Court Thursday dismissed the anticipatory bail petition of star hotelier Vikram Aggarwal in connection with the summons issued by the Tamil Nadu Police.
Aggarwal failed to appear before the Crime Branch Crime Investigation Department (CBCID) Thursday, the deadline set by the latter for an enquiry in connection with cricket betting.
In another anticipatory bail application filed by him in connection with the summons issued by Mumbai Police, the court ordered notice to the Mumbai Police.
A few days ago, the Crime Branch said investigation was on to find out why the wife of a Chennai-based five-star hotel owner telephoned a cricket bookie, now under arrest, over 100 times.
It said the hotelier, known as Victor in betting circles, used the phone connection in his wife's name to get in touch with bookies.
The hotelier is said to have links with Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh, arrested for betting.
