Chennaiyin FC were dealt a blow ahead of their Wednesday Indian Super League (ISL) match against Mumbai City FC when defender Dhanachandra Singh was ruled out of the football tournament due to injury.
Dhanachandra, who plays for Mohun Bagan in the I-League, joined Chennaiyin late due to his commitments with the Kolkata giants in the Calcutta Football League (CFL). He has been released due to a leg injury.
Dhanachandra has been replaced by Anirudh Thapa who trained at French club FC Metz recently.
To add to Chennaiyin's woes, head coach Italian Marco Materazzi won't be on the touchline when his team hosts Mumbai on Wednesday.
Materazzi has been handed a one-match suspension after he was found in an altercation with match officials in their last game against Kerala Blasters.
