Chhattisgarh will initiate a special drive across the state from July 22 for recovery of Rs.669 crore outstanding commercial taxes, a government statement said Friday.
Under the drive, businessmen will have to furnish the details sought by the commercial taxes department and the tax defaulters found in this process will be subjected to stringent action, it said.
Additional Chief Secretary, Commercial Tax, D.S. Mishra has given necessary instructions in the context to commercial tax commissioner. Noting that taxes of nearly Rs. 669 crore are outstanding as on June 30, he said strong steps should be taken for the recovery of the dues.
Mishra said that divisional deputy commissioners should collect the list of tax defaulters in their circle within two days, and based on that list, commercial tax officers should go for field action for tax recovery.
