The University of Chicago said Monday it will open a new academic centre here in March 2014 for research collaboration among students and scholars from India and Chicago.
The centre will be spread over 17,000 square feet in Connaught Place in the heart of Delhi.
"The centre will support the work of our faculty, provide a platform for collaboration and opportunities for Indian scholars, prepare our students with a much greater understanding of India, South Asia, global issues and contribute to intellectual discourse in and with India," said Robert J. Zimmer, president of the Chicago university.
It would promote scholarship under three broad umbrellas: business, science and culture. But the centre in New Delhi will not grant degrees.
