Chidambaram's 92-year-old mother passes away
Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram's 92-year-old mother Lakshmi Palaniappan died here Friday after illness.
She was ailing for more than a month, and her end came at her residence here, police said.
Palaniappan is survived by two sons, P. Lakshmanan and Chidambaram.
Hearing the news, Chidambaram flew down here. The funeral will be held Friday evening.
Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah, Congress leaders, members of the Tamil Nadu assembly, and members of parliament, including CPI-M's T.K. Rangarajan, were among those who paid homage to the departed soul.
