Delhi experienced a chilly Thursday, with the maximum temperature recorded three notches below the season's average at 17.7 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky Friday with the possibility of rain or thunderstorms.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 18 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius.

Friday will start with dense fog in the morning, while the sky will remain partly cloudy in the later part of the day.

Very light rain or thunderstorms may occur, said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

Thursday morning began with moderate fog and the sky remained partly cloudy throughout the day.

Visibility due to fog dropped to 300 metres, affecting both arrivals and departures of trains and flights in the national capital.

According to Northern Railway, two trains were cancelled, 20 were rescheduled and 32 ran late due to dense fog in several parts of the country.

The arrivals of 18 flights were delayed due to poor visibility, said a release issued by the Indira Gandhi international airport.

Thursday's minimum temperature was recorded at two notches above the season's average at nine degrees Celsius.

Wednesday's maximum temperature was recorded four notches below the season's average at 16.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled three notches above the season's average at 10.2 degrees Celsius.
