China and the US kept their hopes alive of reaching the semifinals at FIVB Women's World Volleyball Championship after beating the Dominican Republic and Russia respectively.
The US outlasted Russia 25-19, 25-23, 15-25, 25-23 in Pool G Thursday, reports Xinhua.
Russia still have a chance to progress to the semifinals provided that they beat Italy Friday. The defending champions can join Italy in qualifying if they finish the match within four sets (3-0 or 3-1).
In Pool H, the Dominican Republic simply collapsed in the tie-break with China scoring an amazing 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-12 comeback.
To claim their place in the top four, the Asian side will be hoping that Brazil defeat the Dominican Republic Friday.
