A first-half goal from former Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao handed Santos a 1-0 victory over Bahia in Brazil's Serie A championship.
The 25-year-old headed in Patricio Rodriguez's 11th-minute cross as the hosts clinched their 12th victory of the campaign at the Vila Belmiro stadium, Xinhua reported Friday.
It was just the ninth goal from Damiao since his $20 million move from Brazilian rivals Internacional last December.
Thursday's result lifted Santos to seventh in the standings while Bahia dropped to 16th.
In other matches Thursday Atletico Mineiro drew 0-0 at Fluminense and Chapecoense routed Internacional 5-0.
