Chinese Han Mei claimed the silver medal of the women's 1,000 metres at the ISU junior speed skating World Cup here on Sunday.
Han, who pocketed three silver medals at the Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), timed in one minute and 20.50 seconds, beaten by Japanese Rio Yamada by 0.29 seconds, reports Xinhua.
Another Japanese Minami Miyajima was third in one minute and 21.07 seconds.
"This was my second 1,000m competition of the season, I felt a little rusty when I was on the rink," said Han.
As the junior World Championships will be held in the same city next week, Han hoped to save the best for the last, thus refraining from playing fully in the women's 3,000 metres and the mass start. And her time in the 3,000m is much away from that in the 2016 Chinese National Winter Games.
China collected two gold medals at the World Cup during the weekend, while South Korea had five golds to stand atop of the competing 18 countries and regions.
