Chinese pair Xue Chen and Zhang Xi beat their Brazilian opponents Liliane Maestrini and Barbara de Freitas 21-11, 21-17 to reach the women's final of the beach volleyball world championships Saturday.
The top-seeded Chinese duo were unstoppable in the first set and they broke away with a 7-1 run. The Brazilian pair regrouped in the second set and offered some resistance until the score was tied at 17-17, from where the Chinese girls won four points in a row to seal the win, reports Xinhua.
In the final Xue-Zhang will play German pair Karla Borger and Britta Buthe, who beat Americans April Ross and Jennifer Kessy 21-15, 21-19 in the other semifinal.
