More than 70 chefs from China and Russia have cooked a 112-metre long pork kebab, setting a Guinness record, officials said Wednesday.

The cooking took place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the China-Russia border city of Suifenhe, where workers pierced more than 300 kg of pork slices with a skewer about 111 metres long, Xinhua reported.

The exact length of the kebab was 112.374 metres, replacing the previous 107.6-metre one made in Japan to become the world's longest, the officials said.

The kebab was grilled on a huge burner converted from a deserted rail section of the Chinese Eastern Railroad that traverses through the city.

The event is part of activities of the Fourth China-Russia Tourism Festival held in the city.
