Manchester City's Spanish winger Jesus Navas confirmed that he is "working hard" for a recall to his national football team.
In statements posted on Manchester City's official website, Navas said: "I am always trying to win my place back in the national team -- it's something I am working hard to try and do, but that will only happen if I'm playing well for City."
Navas has not been called up for national duty for 18 months now, despite his participation in 34 matches for Spain, reports Efe.
"If I have another opportunity it would be incredible as it's one of the greatest feelings for any footballer," Navas said.
The 29-year-old is considered one of the main pillars of the Sky Blues, and has featured in all of the group's 12 English Premier League (EPL) games in the current season.
"I always give my all but to have the confidence of the coach, my teammates and the supporters is probably part of the reason I am playing so well at the moment," the Spaniard added.
He also noted: "I try my best in every game but the whole team is playing very well and are confident in what we are doing at the moment and I'm happy to be part of it."
On his return to Seville to face his former Spanish side in the European Champions League, he commented "it was a very special night for me to play against them".
"It was a little bit weird if I'm honest to be playing there with another team after playing for Sevilla and calling it home and playing for those supporters for more than 10 years but it was a good experience and we got the result we needed," Navas concluded.
