Paris Saint-Germain head coach Unai Emery said on Friday he would not be extending his contract, which expires in June, with the French football champions.
The Spanish coach announced to press that he had told the other players of his departure following a meeting with the club's sporting director Antero Henrique, reported Efe.
"We have decided that we will not continue together next season," Emery said in a press conference.
Emery, 46, has coached PSG since 2016 and, during his tenure, the team has dominated at the national French level, though the Parisians recently lost to Real Madrid at home and away in UEFA Champions League play this season.
"I thank president Nasser Al Khelaifi, the director of sport Antero Henrique, the supporters and all the players for these two seasons," he added.
During the press conference, the coach discussed the situation of Brazil star Neymar, who joined PSG earlier this season from Barcelona for a record fee of 222 million euros ($267.83 million).
Emery acknowledged that changes from an old team to a new team always involve some difficulties, but he advised Neymar to keep playing with the French superpower.
