In a coordinated sea-air operation, the Indian Coast Guard apprehended 16 Sri Lankans and three of their fishing boats, the coastal security agency said Saturday.
In a statement issued here, the Coast Guard said it had apprehended three Lankan fishing boats with a total crew of 16 members Dec 5, in a sea-air operation.
The Coast Guard apprehended two Lankan boats 118 nautical miles East off Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The third boat was apprehended 116 nautical miles East off Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh in Indian waters, the statement said.
The boats, along with the crew, are being escorted here for handing over to local police, the Coast Guard said.
