German football club Cologne has extended midfielder Marcel Risse's contract ahead of schedule.
The 25-year-old Risse, whose old contract was stipulated until June 2016, on Monday agreed on a contract extension for another three years, which keeps him with Cologne until June 2019, reports xinhua.
"Marcel is since day one an absolute top performer of our team and he still has great potential to develop further. He identifies himself fully with the club, the fans, and the city therefore we are delighted to continue our cooperation," Cologne manager Joerg Schmadtke said.
Risse joined Cologne from Mainz in the summer 2013 to provide eight assists and 16 goals in overall 65 appearances.
Cologne earned their promotion for Germany's top flight in the season 2014-2015. They completed the last season on the 12th place to maintain the top flight status.
